Fine Art, Mid-Century, Ethnographic and Jewelry
William Jenack Auctioneers sale of February 19, 2017 will be an eclectic sale featuring Ethnographic, fine art, watches, fine jewelry, bronzes, Chinese porcelains, collection Islamic faience bowls, Oriental carpets, Mid-Century Modern furniture and decorative accessories.
Furniture offerings for Mid-Century will include several pieces of George Nelson for Herman Miller such as Basic Series #4636 chest/cabinet, #4621 desk unit with slat bench base and #4617 pair of bedside stands. Also Mission Arts and Crafts oak furniture by Stickley including two sofas with custom upholstery, oak dining table and coffee table. Other furnishing will include a George Smith style Kilim upholstered sofa, Vladimir Kagen sculpted walnut end table, Koren mountain ash brass mounted chest, reclaimed teak chairs and table and a Anglo-Indian carved teak desk.
Jewelry and watches to be sold include a diamond and cabochon ruby ring, marquise cut sapphire and diamond ring, vintage diamond dinner ring, whimsical human hand form ring holding a diamond, turquoise and diamond ring, retro style diamond and sapphire pendant, white gold and diamond flex bracelet, diamond engagement ring, chunky Italian silver necklace, yellow gold pattern bracelet, signet style ring with male and female profiles, Retrotech Designs 14K wristwatch, vintage Elgin 14K 17 jewel open face pocket watch, vintage Patek Philippe pocket watch movement, vintage Winton stainless 15 jewel doctor’s watch, vintage Lord Elgin 14K, 21 jewel wristwatch and Android wristwatches.
Ethnographic items include African hardstone zoomorphic animals, African carved stone trade beads, North West Coast Native American carved hardstone fish, Baule/Guro Ivory Coast collection heddle pulleys, Baule carved wood chair, Ngombe woven shield, Dan carved/cowrie shell and bell mounted dance mask, Ashanti carved Akuaba figure, Benin bronze head of Oni, Bakongo Nkisi nail fetish figure, Makonde carved helmet mask with lip plug and Lega carved, North West Coast Native American banded stone carving of a polar bear and painted two face ritual mask.
Fine Art to be sold include oil on canvas, “Navajo Maiden-A Proud Mother” by Ross Stefan (American 1934-1999); oil on canvas, reclining female nude attributed to Jack Tworkov (American 1900-1982); oil on artist board, seated female nude by Frank Duveneck (American 1848-1919); oil on canvas, seated woman by Jenkel Adler (Poland/England 1895-1949); oil on canvas, “…..Opera” by Mario Tozzi (Italian 1895-1979); oil on canvas, Collie watching over flock of sheep by Harry Lyman (American 1986-1933); watercolor and gouache, battle scene by Bruno Martin (Italian 1911-1979); colored lithograph, abstract figures by Mikhail Chemiakin (Russian 1943-) and lithograph, Charlie Chaplin by Al Hirschfeld (American 1903-2003).
