William Jenack’s auction of August 19th with feature a collection of fresh to the market American stoneware crocks of Hudson Valley and Manhattan origin, Roseville pottery, vintage steel toys, silver, 18/19th French Provincial furnishings, Mid-Century furnishings, art glass, fine art, Nippon, European porcelain, Oriental rugs and decoration accessories.
Leading the sale is the collection of stoneware crockery which include examples such as Cornwall NY ovoid jar, N. Clark Athens NY ovoid jar, W. Nichols Poughkeepsie NY ovoid jar, W. Carroll Poughkeepsie NY ovoid jar, possibly Machette or Bell Bros. Cornwall NY ovoid crock, T.G. Boone & Co. Poughkeepsie NY ovoid jug, Mabbett & Anthone Poughkeepsie NY one gallon jug, Manhattan incised decorated ovoid jar, attributed to Captain James Morgan (not related to the rum!) Cheesequake NJ open loop handled jar, N. Clark Athens NY ovoid jar, Brady & Ryan Ellenville NY crock, attributed to David Bissett Old Bridge NY jars, J.B. Ball & Co. Poughkeepsie NY 1 ½ gallon jug, W. Carroll Poughkeepsie NY ovoid jug, Watson & Sanderson Poughkeepsie ovoid jar, Lewis & Roehl Peekskill NY 4 gallon crock, William Lent Peekskill NY ovoid jar, C.W. Thompson Poughkeepsie NY ovoid jar and many other examples signed and unsigned Manhattan pieces.
If one is hunting for a new look for the living or dining rooms furnishings to be offered include a French Provincial fruitwood cabinet, Baker Mid-Century Rosewood bureau plat/desk, pair Spanish Colonial style carved mahogany armchairs, 18th century French fruitwood farm table with drawers, set of 4 Regency style walnut and leather side chairs, 18th century pine open cupboard, 18th century pine corner cupboard, Anglo-Indian mahogany plantation chair, 18th century pine canted trunk, Mid-Century Danish design rosewood corner cabinet, set of 6 French Empire style carved and parcel gilt side chairs, Louis XVI style carved and inlaid cylinder roll top desk, 19th century Pennsylvania pine skid footed hutch/cupboard.
Porcelain and pottery to be sold include Roseville examples such as a white rose floor vase #994-18”, blue freesia vase #121-8”, freesia console bowl #469, white rose console bowl #392-10”, orange/green zephyr lily cornucopia vase #204-8”, magnolia console bowl #450-10”, white rose vase #94-9” and a pair of “Luffa” vases with original labels. Nippon will include coved jar with landscape, vases with various landscapes, pair of gilt decorated handled vases, footed jardinières. European porcelains being offered include Carlsbad floral decorated pitch, German Art Nouveau floral vase, Teplitz hand decorated jugs, Meissen tureen, Royal Copenhagen full lace decorated serving dishes, Royal Copenhagen lamp, Royal Copenhagen vase by Karen Kjaeldgard-Larsen, Herend blanc de chine nude, Meissen figural decorated porcelain clock with French movement.
For the kid in all of us vintage handmade boat models to include a Lobsterman’s wood dories, rigged sloop sailboat, pond boats and others. Vintage steel toys to be sold include a Keystone “Ride Em” steam shovel, Keystone Railroad 6400 ride on locomotive, Buddy “L” Express Line delivery truck, large scale touring car with trunk, large scale Buddy “L” aerial truck with ladder and red paint and a Buddy “L” red painted “CFD” truck with ladder.
For an investment for your walls artwork will include an oil on canvas cubist composition attributed to Manierre Dawson (American 1887-1969); two oil on panel “Snow Bound” and “Red Barn” by Marieluise Hutchinson (American 1947-); watercolor woman working on needlework by Angelo Von Courten (Italian 1848-1925); oil on canvas portrait of a young girl in white dress by Georgina Koberwein Terrell (American 1876-1903) and many others.
