William Jenack’s first sale of the beginning of the fall season the feature a collection of fresh to the market African art, Russian icons, South West American Indian jewelry, fine art, Oriental carpets and rugs, antique and mid-century furnishings and decorative accessories.
Offerings in furniture include Saarinen style tables, Mid-Century walnut credenza with hair pin legs, Federal walnut chest of drawers ca. 1810, Queen Anne mahogany breakfast table ca. 1790, Christopher Coleman design lacquered coffee table, Empire chest with swing mirror, Le Corbusier style LC2 cream leather and steel sofa and matching chairs, Christopher Coleman design Lucite table, Continental exotic wood inlaid chest on stand and marble top server, French marble top bouillotte table, pair French carved fruitwood tables with brass gallery.
Artwork in the offering include an oil on board, barnyard by Lawrence Lebduska (American 1894-1966); oil on canvas board, Indonesian landscape by Ernst Dezentje (Indonesian 1885-1972); oil on canvas, sea sirens by Vittorio Reggianini (Italian 1858-1939); oil on canvas, geometric composition attributed to Charles Green Shaw (American 1892-1974); oil on canvas, Barbizon landscape by6 Ben Austrian (American 20th century); watercolor, birches attributed to George Ernest Colby (American 1859-1922); oil on canvas, factories Kingston NY by William A. Macready (American 1898-1956); oil on canvas, flower pot signed Burliuk; oil on panel, view in Amsterdam by Jan Meijer (Dutch 20th century); oil on canvas, Central Park by Glenn Kessler (American 1976-); oil on board, “Fruits of the Land” by George W. Drew (American 1875-1968); oil on canvas, verdant landscape by Frank W. Loven (American 1868-1951); oil on canvas, British harbor attributed to George Dunlop Leslie (British 1835-1921).
African art is set to include an Ambete carved and painted Janus (double face) reliquary figure, vintage Lwalwa mask, Bambara antelope headdress, Yoruba mask, Zaramo carved wood stool, African carved terracotta figure, Baluba carved figural drum/ medicine container, Chokwe carved and copper clad figure of Tshibinda Iluga, Ambete fetish figure, Dan metal mounted mask, Bamoum helmet mask, Bakuba carved wood drum, Bete-Guro carved and metal mounted ancestor figure, along with many other examples of masks and figures.
Jewelry lots include Mexican 925 sterling and black onyx bracelet with matching earrings, Taxco/Mexico 950 sterling necklace by Melesio Rodriguez worked at Margot de Taxco studio, Italian Vior sterling double link chain necklace, Taxco/Mexico 950 silver black onyx necklace and matching earrings signed, Zina 925 sterling silver necklace and an impressive Navajo squash blossom necklace made from Morgan silver dollars and Mercury dimes.
