William Jenack’s New Year’s Eve auction will tempt buyers for mid-century modern furnishings, sterling silver, Chinese art, Russian icons, fine art, designer costume jewelry, oriental carpets, bronzes, decorative accessories and fine art.
Silver in the offering include Danish sterling enameled open salt and pepper retailed by Georg Jensen, Dunkirk sterling waste bowl, Tiffany & Co. serving fork, Jensen style silver salad set, pair of Victorian 800 silver candlesticks, large International sterling Revere bowl, Gorham “Plymouth” sterling tea service, service for 12 International “Royal Danish” sterling flatware, Mexican sterling sombrero, Russian silver sugar tongs and a service for 12 Gorham “Strasbourg” sterling flatware.
Furnishings are set to include a mid-century black leather and chrome sofa, pair of Saarinen for Knoll International round tulip side tables, Hans Wegner teak daybed for Getama, Continental carved walnut refractory table 17/18th century, pair Charles & Ray Eames (LCW) laminated plywood lounge chairs with original Evans Products/Herman Miller decals, Dux Scandia design sofa, set of 6 Bertoia painted iron garden chairs, Saarinen for Knoll International oval tulip side table, Alvar Aalto design mid-century modern birch tea trolley, Charles & Ray Eames style lounge chair & ottoman, Hepplewhite style inlaid mahogany chest on chest by Benck Bros., Charles Hollis Jones Lucite armchair, set 4 Richard Schultz for Knoll International armchairs, pair Russel Wright for Samson Chair folding metal chairs, antique oak extension dining table circa 1900, set 6 Aesthetic Movement carved oak dining chairs, Aesthetic Movement carved and burl walnut games table and a period William & Mary gate leg table.
Fine art to be sold include an oil on canvas river landscape with boaters by Charles Daubigny (French/American 1817-1878); oil on artist board The Garden by Ferdinand Keller (German 1842-1922); oil on canvas “Near Poet’s Walk” by Eric Angeloch (American 1960-); oil on canvas The Muse Euterpe Italian School 18th century; pastel study of the artist’s mother by Boris Solotareff (Russian 1889-1966); watercolor “Dominica” by Pop (George Overbury) Hart (American 1868-1933); Venetian School 18th century , oil on canvas Grand Canal with Rialto Bridge, Venice and 4 Giorgio Morandi (Italian 1890-1964) etchings including “Zinnie in un vaso”, “Il giardino di via Fondazza”, “Grande natura morta con la lempada a destra” and “Paesaggio di Grizzana”.
Chinese offerings selling will be a large carved Hongmu wood mirror, copper red decorated porcelain dragon vase, bronze archaic form covered vase, Sung/Yuan porcelain tri-foot censer, carved celadon porcelain low bowl, carved wood and painted figure of a Lohan, cast iron gilt Buddha, fine carved wood and polychromed figure of Kwan Yin, South East Asian carved and gilt wood acrobat, Chinese embroidered silk rank badge, rose quartz figure of a Hotoi with tiger, carved hardstone boulder with figure in landscape and bronze silvered hand mirrors.
Other lots of note include antique oak time clock, vintage French carved walnut wall clock with thermometer and barometer, French carved and gilt Trumeau mirror, Karl Kauba bronze skeleton, mid-century modern bronze peach upon teakwood base, Sonneman “Atelier” pendant chandelier, mid-century modern carved granite torso and Waterbury Renaissance Revival carved mahogany hall clock #68 with moon phase movement.
