PRESS RELEASE FOR JANUARY 20, 2019 SALE
 
William Jenack’s first sale of the New Year will feature collection of fine art, ancient coins, stoneware crocks, Oriental carpets & rugs, bronzes, vintage advertising, American & Continental silver, Folk Art, art glass, Americana and decorative accessories.
Leading the fine art is an oil on canvas, sheep in landscape by Auguste Coomans (Belgian 1855-1896); oil on canvas, landscape with panoramic harbor view by Henry Dawson (British 1811-1878); oil on panel, candlelit interior with figures by Andreas Franciscus Vermeulen (Belgian 1821-1884); oil on canvas, Mexico 1894 by Townley Benson (American 1848-1907); watercolor, Nassau Bahamas by Hartwell Leon Woodcock (American 1853-1929); oil on canvas, the Decollation of St. John the Baptist by Domenico Giacinti (Italian 1868-1957); oil on canvas, “Mask Vendors” by Michael Lenson (Russian/American 1903-1971); oil on canvas, sisters by David Burliuk (Russian/American 1882-1967); oil on canvas, pines along the beach by Max Weyl N.A. (American 1837-1914); lithograph, “Sorghum Mill” by Thomas Hart Benton (American 1889-1975); lithograph, “The Planting Group” by Grant Wood (American 1891-1942); ink on paper, untitled study by Arshile Gorky (Russian/American 1904-1948).
Ancient coin offerings include Imperial Roman Philip I “The Arab” tetradrachm AD 244-249, Severina wife of Aurelian (only female Empress) AD 270-275, Nerva as Caesar AD 96-98, L. Julius Caesar BCE 141, Orbiana, wife of Severus Alexander AE Sestertius AD 225-226, Imperial Roman silver Denarius of Macrinus AD 217-218 and many others.
Art glass to be sold include a Tiffany favrile glass footed vase signed “LCT 6036A”, Daum and Louis Majorelle wrought iron mounted glass bowl, very fine Bohemian carved and enameled ruby glass chalice (possibly Moser), vintage enamel decorated cased cranberry glass fluted bowl, Czech coralene cobalt glass cordial set, Moser gilt decorated and metal mounted cranberry glass pitcher, Fenton Burmese yellow glass vase, iridescent art glass vase signed Lalique Studio and a glossy peach blow art glass vase.
Crocks crossing the block include a rare redware covered jar attributed to David Mandeville of Circleville NY; Branch Green, Old Bridge NY one-quart wine jug; early Manhattan ovoid stoneware jug; Howe & Clark Athens NY stoneware jug; attributed to Captain James Morgan Cheesequake NJ stoneware jug; Crolius Manhattan stoneware jar; early Albany stoneware jar and New York Stoneware Co. 4-gallon crock and others.
Other lots of note include a miniature “Wall’s Ice Cream” toy vendor’s cart, Holwick Mod 4A electric coffee grinder ca. 1910, LymeTyme soda fountain syrup dispenser, vintage carved and painted wood barber’s pole, Enterprise electric coffee mill, European polychrome bronze group of Budgies on branch, antique bronze jeweler’s lathe and a Franz Bergman cold painted Vienna Bronze of an Arab.
